2017 Fashion Trend Predictions
When it came to style, 2016 was a big year. We mixed the chokers of the ‘90s with kick flare jeans of the ‘70s; ‘80s statement jackets and ‘60s off-the-shoulder tops alike. We spent the last 12 months taking the crème de la crème of decades past and making them our own. We may be bidding adieu to 2016, but there are some fashion trends we’ve come to love — and we’re not letting them go that easily. Here are our favorite looks from the past year that we hope will continue to go strong well into 2017.

CHOKERS
Perhaps the largest ‘90s trend of the year, Kendall shows us how to wear the choker best. Whether it’s a thin black ribbon or thick embellished statement piece, we’re going to continue to wear our favorite piece of jewelry with everything from cocktail dresses to T-shirts, well into 2017.

WHITE LOW-TOPS
Sometimes the best trends of the moment are the most simple. Such is the case with Zendaya’s white low-top sneakers, which she slides into nearly every occasion she can. We’ve been known to sport ours with jeans for a weekend brunch and sundresses for warm summer evenings. You truly can’t go wrong when it comes to this classic.

MILITARY DRESSING
Gigi took full advantage of the military trend this year, even collaborating with Tommy Hilfiger on a collection of all our favorite pieces. From tailored double-breasted coats to sailor-front pants; striped tees and bomber jackets alike; this is a trend that is definitely coming with us next year.

GRAPHIC TEES
When you’re looking for a little rocker inspiration, Chlöe will teach you how it’s done. Whether you’re keeping it casual with skinny jeans or leather pants, or choose a more dressed-up look with a pair of silk trousers or a mini skirt, the graphic tee look shows no signs of stopping once the ball drops.

KICK-FLARE JEANS
If you’re looking to show off your ankles, but want something a little more shapely than skinny jeans, look no further than the kick-flare. With an often distressed edge, cropped silhouette, and belled shaft, Jasmine easily proves the power of the wardrobe staple.

CHUNKY HEEL ANKLE BOOTIES
Louis Vuitton did it first, but nearly every other designer followed suit, taking the chunky combat boot and elevating it—quite literally—to an item that has quickly become a wardrobe must-have. Slip them on with jeans for a slightly more dressed-up feel, or add some edge to an otherwise elegant dress or skirt look like Karlie.

FLAT MULES
The boudoir trend was taken to the streets this year with the popularization of the flat mule. Part bedroom slipper, part preppy loafer, you’re going to have to pry these babies out of our strong grasps if you want to try to take them away. They’re definitely on the list for 2017.

VELVET
Velvet has taken on a million shapes, sizes, and forms this fall and we can’t get enough. Whether it’s a pair of ankle booties, a slip dress, or even coats and jackets, the deep-hued material makes all of our looks instantly more luxe. Not only will we take this trend into 2017, but dare we say we may even keep it with us for longer?
